Mphatso Stiles

Associate Regional Director

Mphatso loves Jesus and clings to Him everyday.  Her life in Malawi has been one of many tears.  In her younger years she lived a privileged life until her father and mother both died of HIV before she was 14 years old.  Forced to live with extended family, she was treated as an outsider. Mphatso worked put herself through school, attended Young Life Camp and became a believer of Jesus Christ. At first, she was hesitant to get involved, because she felt unsure of how Christians could have so much fun. Fortunately, Christ set her free from preconceived notions of conservative religion and opened her eyes to the beauty, energy and transformational power of Young Life ministry. Mphatso is strong and determined. Awakened one early December morning by a phone call from her newlywed husband and Young Life staff Wanangwa, who described to her a prophetic dream of his entrance into heaven. That morning Wanangwa was killed in a tragic automobile accident, along with fellow Young Life staff Lusayo and volunteer Sarah Adams. Yet Mphatso is confident in the Lord’s goodness and has remained faithful to His mission through Young Life. Now serving as Metro Director in Lilongwe, Malawi, Mphatso is passionate about sharing with girls the real, God-breathed truth of the gospel. She is a friendly, energetic and outgoing disciple-maker who believes that true and lasting change in her community will only come through Jesus Christ. She is married to Todd and they have one daughter.
