Solomon himself is evidence for the impact of Young Life Africa. Though he was raised in a Christian family, he didn’t truly start following God until he was introduced to Young Life. One of Solomon’s classmates, who is now the current bookkeeper for Young Life in Ethiopia, invited him to club. Solomon soon became close to his leader at club was easily convinced to come to camp. After hearing the club talks at camp, Solomon made the serious decision to follow God. His life quickly transformed as he began reading his bible and praying with new zeal.
After growing deeper in his faith and graduating high school, Solomon began volunteer leading. As he became further involved in Young life and matured in his relationship with God, he was invited to participate in the Developing Global Leaders (DGL) program. The DGL program is an opportunity for selected high school graduates to gain a university education while learning under a mentor and serving as a volunteer leader at a local YL club. After his completion of the program, and because of his desire to serve the Lord, Solomon was invited onto Young Life staff.
Solomon has a gentle demeanor and is an honest, servant-hearted leader and constant learner. He is currently an Area Director in a northern part of Ethiopia called Dese Kombolecha.
