The Lord has been doing exciting work in Young Life ministry in Ethiopia. Many kids have heard and received the gospel. A staff associate in Ethiopia, Nega, recently shared the testimony of one of the kids in his neighborhood.
Amadi had been a street kid in Ethiopia for a long time. One day, Nega passed by and took notice of Amadi on the road. When Amadi was sitting alone Nega approached him, introduced himself and began getting to know him. The two became friends and over time Amadi opened up and shared with Nega about why he had left his family and went to live on the streets.
Nega and Amadi would see each other often. Nega would bring Amadi food and hang out with him, sharing the love of Jesus both by word and deed. When the time was right Nega invited Amadi to Young Life and Amadi decided to go. It was there that the word of the Lord became real to Amadi and he said “yes” to Jesus! Since accepting Jesus, a lot has changed for Amadi. One of the best changes has been that he no longer lives on the streets but has gone back to live with his family.
It is true that where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17)! Amadi experienced this freedom from hopelessness and loneliness when he began walking in relationship with Jesus. We praise Jesus for waking up Amadi’s heart to His love.
