Bernardi Horokoro – Zanzibar

Bernardi heard about Young Life while working as a tour guide on Zanzibar, the beautiful archipelago off the coast of Tanzania which is almost exclusively Muslim, is generally closed to Christian teachings, and is the historic site of a large former slave market. As Young Life groups were led by Bernardi on visits to Zanzibar, the staff got to know him and told him about Jesus and about Young Life’s aim to introduce kids to Him. Although a Muslim, he was drawn to them and their love for Christ and kids. Through these conversations, he eventually became a believer and joined Young Life staff so he too could reach kids and tell them about the freedom and peace found only in Jesus. Bernardi now serves as an area director in Zanzibar.
