Betelihem, known as Beti to her friends, grew up in a Christian family where her parents encouraged her to grow in her faith. As she got older, Beti took a discipleship class at church and started singing in the choir, spurring on her love for the Lord and her longing to spread the gospel. Beti’s brother went to Young Life often, and she started to join him. As Beti grew in her involvement with Young Life and matured in her walk with the Lord, she was invited to participate in the Developing Global Leaders program for select high school graduates to obtain a university education while serving as a volunteer leader. Due to Beti’s completion of the DGL program and her heart to reach the lost kids of Ethiopia, she is now an associate on staff in Jimma, Ethiopia.
