Lucia Mahachi – Zimbabwe

Area Director

Lucia is passionate and self-driven.

Lucia explains, “I will never forget the day I met Jesus Christ and my life was changed forever. When l was in high school I was involved with a bad crowd of people. Then one day a friend invited me to go to church with her. While the pastor was preaching I couldn’t help but feel convicted for all the horrible things I had done. In this moment, I saw my own brokenness so clearly but was also told that Jesus Christ loved me anyways and died on the cross for my sins. I was overcome with emotion and gave my life to Christ that very day.

After this is when I first got involved in ministry. I began by leading worship at my church. Then I also started leading a girls fellowship group. After doing this for a while, in 2014 I heard about Young Life. I was one of the first people to get trained and start Young Life in Harare, Zimbabwe. Since it was a new area, ministry was hard. People were very resistant to the work we were doing. Despite these challenges we persevered and I found a great sense of purpose and belonging in the work we were doing. Now I am serving as an area director in Chitungwiza.”
