Lucia Mahachi – Zimbabwe

Area Director

When Lucia was in high school, she got involved with the wrong crowd. Then one day a friend invited her to church. While the pastor was preaching, she felt conviction for all the mistakes in her past. She clearly saw her own brokenness, but she heard about the love of Jesus and his sacrifice for her sins. She was overcome with emotion and gave her life to Christ that day. She got involved in ministry and began leading worship and Bible studies at her church. Later, she heard about Young Life, was trained as a leader, and helped start Young Life in Harare, Zimbabwe. Since it was a new area, ministry was difficult because people were resistant. Despite these challenges, they persevered. Now Lucia serves as an area director in Chitungwiza.
