Simon Peter Okiria* – Uganda

Growing up, Simon’s father taught in the Catholic Church, and because of this, his family moved around often. The inconsistency in his life pushed Simon towards rebellious behaviors. His parents sent him to seminary school to combat his behavior. While there, he attended a Catholic youth conference where he began following Jesus. He then began investing in teenagers in his home village, just like a Young Life leader would. Local Young Life leaders saw this and invited Simon to join the mission of Young Life in 2003. He eagerly accepted and became a leader who was a force of change for Christ in his village. Through the years, Simon has faithfully served Young Life Uganda as an area director, a country director, senior regional director and more recently, director of church relations with Young Life Uganda where he leads ministry.
