DRC Outreach Camp
June 29 - July 1, 2017
At the end of June, 452 kids from two neighborhoods in the DRC gathered together for three days of fun, conversation, and learning. Among the kids, there were 4 with disabilities, 42 orphans, and 11 teen moms. All the kids had the opportunity to play games, sing songs, and hear the Gospel during club talks. Apollo was one boy who was shocked by everything at Young Life camp as he grew up in a very poor family. Throughout his life, he had believed that there could not be a god if there was so much injustice in the world. It simply did not make sense that some kids had the opportunity to attend school while he had to work or take care of his siblings. According to his Young Life leader, “Apollo discovered how God loves the whole world” through the relationships and the love that he saw amongst campers and leaders as well as learning about Jesus’ love during the camp speaker’s messages.
Similar to Apollo, there were 380 other kids, including 7 Muslims, who decided to commit their lives to Jesus. Praise the Lord for the ways He has used and continues to use Young Life in the DRC to change the lives of kids, leaders and staff.
