Senegal Sports Outreach Camp

March 31-April 1, 2019

There was a two days sports outreach camp in M’Bour, a coastal city in Senegal. The camp hosted 229 campers and leaders from a wide variety of backgrounds and upbringings. Several campers shared small stories of their experiences before and during camp.

“Before coming to camp, I didn’t know anyone who was going to be there besides my leader Julia who invited me. I get really nervous in new groups of people and had no idea what this would look like at camp. Once I got to camp, I met so many kind people and my nerves were slowly put to ease. This was largely a result of all the hard work put in by the leaders to welcome us with open arms and care for us so sacrificially. I learned that in an even more perfect way than our leaders, Christ is always there to welcome and care for us. I am so thankful for my time at Young Life camp.”

“Young Life camp showed me the importance of living a right and noble life. I am ready to follow Jesus for all the days of my life.”

“Before Young Life camp, I frequently stole food from my family and took advantage of those around me. I have now heard the good news of Jesus Christ and it has changed the way I want to live my life. I am ready to follow Jesus and seek out forgiveness and reconcile with all those I have taken advantage of.”

“Several months ago, I left Senegal to travel to Guinea because my grandfather had passed away. While I was there I went to a well to fetch some water and a bucket fell on my head. I fell unconscious and my finger was cut off. As I came to have faith in God at Young Life camp, I learned that there was so much more to life than physical healing. Through Jesus Christ, I was saved and my soul was forever healed. I pray that I will continue to be able to experience this healing daily.”

Each camp, is such a beautiful picture of the kingdom work that is possible through Young Life. This is such a small picture of all the stories of transformation that come to light in the short time that these students spend at camp. Please join in praying for the continuation of this incredible ministry throughout Senegal.
