Zambia Outreach Camp

The Lord has been gracious and faithful in Young Life’s ministry in Zambia. The first outreach camp in Zambia was held for students from Ndola April 15-17. Sixty-seven kids arrived by bus for the best time of their lives and immediately engaged in all the excitement of camp. Many of the kids were overwhelmed by the warmth of the welcome, the delicious food, soft beds and people there to serve them.

Frederick is a 9th grader at Dzikomo Primary School. He met David, a local Young Life leader, last year and was a part of the first Young Life club held in Zambia. Frederick is an orphan for all intents and purposes. During the course of his parents’ separation, Frederick’s mother left and his father said that he can stay in the house, but must fend for himself for food and clothing. David has continued to walk alongside Frederick and show him God’s love over the past year. He was excited to have Frederick attend camp. Frederick experienced unconditional love at camp and began to understand that the love David showed him was because of Jesus. Frederick chose to give his life to Jesus at camp. He stood up alongside 67 friends, new and old, to say yes to Jesus Christ.
