Jean Bosco Abarikumwe – Rwanda

Area Director

Jean was raised in a family of 19 kids. With this many people in the family, it was easy to get overlooked. Although many of his sisters were strong believers, Jean just went to church because that was what his family did. He even chose to get baptized before having an actual relationship with Jesus. One of his sisters had been involved with Young Life, so she introduced Jean to a male leader from his area. It was here that he finally understood the power of the gospel and in 2011 he asked Jesus to enter into his life.

Jesus radically changed the trajectory of Jean’s life and after spending much of his time being heavily involved with Young Life, he was recruited to go to college through the DGL program. Since graduating from college he has gone on staff with Young Life as an area director. His ministry is deeply rooted in prayer which is displayed by the passion and commitment John exudes daily.
