Laban Benjamin – Tanzania

Area Director II

Laban grew up in a Christian home where faith was instilled in him at an early age. Things changed when Laban’s father passed away leaving him the head of the household. He found work helping to lead expeditions up Mt. Kilimanjaro and later became part of the mountain rescue team. He met Alexis Kwamy, who began to mentor Laban, teaching him the Bible and inviting him to a Young Life discipleship group. As his faith grew, he was invited to be a Young Life leader in a district of Arusha. Later, he helped Young Life establish ministry in Ilboru, Lendenai, and Nyumba ya Mungu. Laban continues to oversee ministry as an area director in the two remote Maasai villages as well as clubs in the Mairowa region of Tanzania.
