Rabicca – New Praise Album

Over the course of a few days in January 2024, five Young Life staff from all over Africa gathered to record a powerful worship album that captures Young Life Africa’s joyful and uplifting spirit. Rabicca (meaning ‘praise’ in Somali) is an album that is full of energy and spirit, sung in 14 different languages, the songs of which are as diverse as the languages they are spoken in.

Alexis Kwamy (Tanzania), Banji Simasiku (Zambia), Deborah Samaké (Mali), Moges Berassa (Ethiopia) and Wonde Baye (Ethiopia), have recorded a powerful worship album that captures the songs that are sung in Young Life groups all across Africa.

Since its creation, Young Life has always used the power of music to unify teenagers within club, Campaigners, and camp settings. The hope with Rabicca is the same — that clubs all over the continent of Africa would be able to use this collection of songs to gather, unify, and point kids to Jesus.

In clubs that don’t have sound systems or instruments, Rabicca can be used as a soundtrack to help build and facilitate dynamic music experiences for teens. Because of its worldwide digital presence, kids everywhere will be able to access it readily. This is a powerful way to make the gospel accessible to every kid, everywhere — one of Young Life’s greatest hopes and prayers.

The Spirit of God will stop at nothing to reach lost kids from all over the world, and we are proud to provide a beautiful source of musical worship that communicates the love of Jesus that will be accessible to all, no matter where you live.

These songs are well known and recognized in clubs and Campaigners groups across Africa. Upon hearing these songs, teenagers and leaders will be reminded of who they are in Christ and of the joy in which they were created.
