Dakar Sport Camp
April 1-2, 2017
At the beginning of April, 135 kids gathered on the coast of Senegal in Dakar for the best three days of their lives. Campers had the freedom to simply be kids and have fun as they played plenty of soccer, sang songs, shared conversation, and listened to club talks about the Gospel. Eva, one of the 25 Muslims at camp, accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the end of camp because she felt the Holy Spirit move in her heart during the club talks. After the end of camp, Eva went home and has tried to change from her old lifestyle. She says that she is a “new person” as she is striving to live for Christ.
“At Young Life camp, I learned that Jesus gave His life for everyone”
– Babacar, Young Life camper
Babacar, a boy who grew up with two brothers and five sisters, felt accepted at Young Life camp which gave him the ability to open up and have real conversation with his leaders and friends. The conversations that Babacar had and the club talks given by the camp speaker made him want to give his life to the Lord. After camp, Babacar said, “At Young Life, I learned that Jesus gave His life for everyone.”
Just like Eva and Babacar, 95 other kids gave their lives to Jesus for the first time, including 25 Muslims. Praise the Lord for the ways He is using Young Life in Senegal to change the lives of kids.
