One of our wise senior leaders, Sthe, from Swaziland, told me a story about something that happened to her recently. She was travelling from Johannesburg to Tanzania when her purse was stolen. Her passport, boarding pass, everything she needed to get on the plane in just a few minutes was gone.
She was thrown into a state of panic looking everywhere, calling everyone she knew to call when suddenly she realized that she must stop and thank the Lord. She stopped in the middle of the large airport and started praising God. “I thanked Him that He knew what was happening and more importantly why it was happening.” As she finished praising she walked up to the information counter and before she could ask the ladies standing there about her purse she SAW it sitting right before her eyes! Everything was intact and nothing had been taken out of it. The ladies behind the counter explained that a man had just come up and handed the purse in as ‘lost and found’. “You must be a praying woman”, they said.
“I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me….and my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen.”
(Philippians 4)
In the midst of our chaos this season, no matter what is happening, whether we are mourning or joyous, whether we are frustrated or content, whether we are seeking something lost or thankful for what we’ve found, may we remember to stop in the midst of whatever it is, and thank Him that He knows what’s happening and why.
He will provide all our needs.
