Zanzibar summary

Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous part of Tanzania in East Africa. Even though it is considered part of Tanzania, Zanzibar remains separated as an island off of the coast. It keeps a separate flag and holds a very unique culture that sets it apart from the rest of Tanzania. A lush, tropical paradise, Zanzibar holds rich history and flavor, and it is almost completely inhabited by Muslims at 98.9%. 48% of the population is under the age of 18.

Young Life in Zanzibar began in 2008 and has grown into 35 different ministries. In 2024, over 2,294 kids attend club every week and nearly 1,727 attend campaigner groups. It can be dangerous for leaders to share the gospel in Zanzibar. Yet these staff and leaders are faithful, and God has richly blessed the ministry of Young Life Zanzibar.
