Hope for teenagers facing life-threatening illnesses

Young Life HOPE is a special initiative under Young Life Africa focused on reaching adolescents ages 13–18 who are battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. The ministry exists to introduce terminally ill adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith, finding hope in Him during their time of suffering.

Young Life HOPE Africa is a ministry of Young Life that reaches adolescents across Africa who are living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Many of these teenagers spend long periods in hospitals or at home, separated from their friends, schools, and normal routines. Alongside the physical challenges of illness, they can experience fear, isolation, and uncertainty about their future.

Young Life HOPE leaders are trained to meet these young people where they are. They travel long distances to visit teenagers in hospitals and homes, sometimes by bus or motorcycle. They spend time listening, talking, playing games, praying, and offering encouragement to teenagers and their families. Through these simple, consistent relationships, young people are reminded that they are seen, loved, and not alone.
