Irene Mwasanga – Tanzania

Senior Training Associate

Irene represented Tanzania in the 1980 Olympics in Moscow. She is a lover of sports which makes her effective at reaching young people. Now though, her focus on winning is about souls, not medals. She serves as a member of the Senior African Leadership Team, a small group of African nationals who are the primary overseers of the mission of Young Life across the continent of Africa. Irene also serves in many other capacities: leading club, reaching out to do contact work with kids, and leading a girls’ Bible study. She is a wife and mother to seven children; her favorite verse is Jeremiah 1:5: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
