Matilda Zainab Kamara – Sierra Leone

YoungLives Divisional Coordinator - Africa West

Matilda Z. Kamara serves as the Young Lives coordinator in Sierra Leone. Her relationship with teen moms has accorded her the right to be heard in many corners of Sierra Leone. Matilda grew up in a home of religious syncretism where her mom was a Christian, and her Dad practiced Islamism. She attended church services but accepted Islamism as a religion because of her Dad. Matilda had an encounter with Jesus at a youth retreat she attended. She got involved with Young Life through Abie Conteh as a university student in 2014. Like many others, she grew interested after visiting camps, Clubs, and campaigners’ meetings. Matilda started as a volunteer and was later promoted to the position of YoungLives Divisional Coordinator for Africa West.  Matilda sees her relationship with kids as a reminder of Jesus’ mission on Earth.
