A Renewed Sense of Purpose

In the heart of Juba, South Sudan, Young Life made history as the first outreach camp unfolded. The camp kicked off with a lively welcome from leaders and the work crew as teenagers arrived with eager hearts, ready to have fun and learn. They danced together, shared stories, and laughed deeply.

During and after every club session, teenagers had a moment to reflect on the camp’s theme, “From Darkness to Light.” During their cabin times, they shared their own journeys from darkness to light. The power of this time inspired hope and unity among them. Campers from different backgrounds and regions realized they shared similar situations and that God loves and welcomes them into his light.

As the camp came to an end, teenagers left with full hearts, carrying not just memories but a renewed sense of purpose. Out of the 178 kids who attended, 53 made a decision for Christ! Many stated that they had had an amazing time of fun and experienced so much love. In the spirit of “From Darkness to Light,” the campers left knowing that they could be beacons of hope in their communities by choosing to live in the light. The team in South Sudan is excited to see God continue to move in powerful ways, just like He did here.
