Freddy Mutusa Bwaare – DRC

Area Director

Freddy serves as area director for Young Life in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He describes himself as a leader and servant of God through Young Life. Freddy came to know Jesus Christ through a Young Life leader who was speaking at a camp. After being lost in darkness, he came to realize that through Jesus Christ one can find the path to paradise and eternal life, awakening from indifference to a heart renewed by faith.

Freddy began his Young Life journey as an ordinary young man, but through God’s power, he rose to become a faithful leader. Starting as a club member, he advanced to leader, then club leader, team leader, and now serves as area director. Today, Freddy oversees 53 clubs with 407 volunteer leaders, along with two volunteer area directors and 12 volunteer team leaders. Despite ongoing security challenges in the DRC caused by neighboring conflicts over biodiversity, Freddy continues his ministry of reaching teens with the gospel; he is deeply thankful for the support and guidance of the Young Life Africa leadership team.
